WILD WOMAN SERIES


ARTIST STATEMENT

In this series I work primarily with graphite pencil and plastic eraser on bristol paper. I am obsessed by the literal and find this medium allows me to capture the realistic along with the implied. I like to bring together a number of ideas in a single drawing, which sometimes gives a feeling of collage. In this series I have occasionally added a touch of color in the form of ink or paint to some of the drawings.

The "Wild woman" series was inspired by the stories and words of Clarissa Pinkola Estés in her book "Women Who Run With The Wolves". Walks along mountains, lakes, and wild canyons of the West Kootenays combined with a search of my inner feelings bring the wise words of Estés into my own life and onto the paper. This contemplation of the wild and instinctual nature within, has come in three parts:
