| Wild landscapes connect me with strong feelings of safety and coming home. While in the wild, I have felt an urge to crawl in and lose myself -- to give over my modern life and tuck in with Mother Nature. Estés tells of an old Navajo hogan with a red handprint beside the door. She says that it means, "We are safe here." For me, the wild earth offers up the possibility of haven from the contradictions of modern life and is a link to my Wild Woman within. It nourishes and inspires my creative ideas. It is the wild places that evoke a certainty of a past and hope for a future. |
